Tourism in Neamt County

In Piatra Neamt you can visit the the Art Gallery, the Tower and  St. John the Baptist Church builted in 1498-1499), the History Museum, Cucuteni neolitic Culture Museum, Ethnografic Museum, Natural Science Museum, Youth Theatre, the Memorial house “Calistrat Hogas”, and from Pietricica mountain and Cozla mountain you can admire the town.

Telegondola is not only a means of conveyance to the ski slope but also also to other points of attraction on the mountain Cozla. Telegondola is offering a great panoramic view of the city. Telescaunul has a maximum capacity of 826 persons per hour and serve the tubing and the ski slope.

Our swimming pool base can be found at the base of Cernegura Mountain and it is the largest and most modern pool in the Nord-Est Region of Romania, with thousands of visitors every year. Full restored after an investment of over 4 million, the swimming pool base is equipped with two outdoor pools, tennis and football field with artificial turf, volleyball and basketball field, skateboard tracks, playground for the children, paintball field, terraces, clubs and discos.

Horse racing base is offering riding lessons, or walk with a horse on mountain paths, or a carriage ride through town.

City Stadium - property of the city of Piatra Neamt – fulfills the UEFA standards for national and international competitions.
 

The Neamt Fortress, the medieval fortress of Moldova, is another important objective which you can visit in Targu Neamt. Built during the reign of Petru I of Moldova, the fortress knows the most flourishing period during Stefan the Great, when it joins the defensive network of fortress with a defensive role. One of the best-known moments of citadel glory was in 1691 when it resisted the attacks of the Polish army lead by Ian Sobieski. It was later abandoned because of Ottoman pressure.
 

Neamt County has a rich historical heritage, with ancient, worldwide known monasteries – like Agapia, Bistrita, Durau, Pangarati, Sihastria, Varatec, Sihla, Horaita, Secu.

In Neamt county you can also visit: the memorial house Ion Creanga (Humulesti), the memorial house Veronica Micle (Tg. Neamt), the memorial house Alexandru Vlahuta (Agapia), the memorial house Aristide Caradja (Grumazesti), memorial museum Vasile Conta (Baltatesti), the memorial house Calistrat Hogas (Piatra Neamt), local collection of ethnography and history Nicolae Popa (Petricani), ethnography museum Ioan Luca (Farcasa), Zoological Museum C. Romanescu (Poiana Teiului), the memorial house I.I. Mironescu (Tazlau).

A very well known landmark in the Romania is the highest mountains in Neamt county called Ceahlau. The highest points on the mountain are Toaca (1904 m) and Ocolasul Mare (1907 meters). At the altitude of 1,021 meters the river Rupturi is making a 25 m waterfall called Duruitoarea. At the bottom of the mountain is a magnificent tourist place named Durau after the name of the waterfall. A few km away from Piatra-Neamt are the Bicaz Gorges -Hasmas National Park with mountains wall of 300-400 meters high. The Gorges are the refugee for many species of animal and plants. 

Another major touristic objective is the Dam from Bicaz, (127 m high and 435 m long). Dam construction was completed in 1960. Spring Mountain Lake formed after the dam construction, is the largest artificial lake in the country, with an area of 33 km2. The lake has approximately 1,250 billion m3 of water at its full level. Many species of fish thrive in the lake. The lake ends at Poiana Teiului where you can find an aqueduct - bridge. Poiana Teiului is a geological reservation. A huge limestone bloc formed via erosion is present here.  It name is Devil Rock and many local legends tell different stories about it.
